His passion for design and fabrication was nurtured from his family’s drapery business, Country Store Interiors. There he developed a keen eye, the skills of craftsmanship, and his deep commitment to quality work and customer satisfaction. Doug’s interest in design, construction, and upholstery led to the establishment of Teknique, a company founded in 1988.

 

Doug has assembled a team that shares his commitment to quality, attention to detail and customer service. He and his team specialize in furniture upholstery of all stylistic periods, from fine antiques to contemporary pieces; custom headboards and cornices; cushion work for patios and yachts; and his greatest passion, the custom design and fabrication of furniture, banquettes, and built-in seating. The Teknique team will reupholster treasured items to bring back their former glory. They’ll work with you, your architect, designer, and contractor to take your custom design idea from concept to fabrication and installation.

 

Doug has done custom work with designers on Florida’s Suncoast and from Atlanta, Chicago, D.C., New York, and New Jersey. He is a specialist in hotel, restaurant, and office refurbishment. His designs can be seen at the Hyatt in Clearwater, Euphemia Haye, Sandbar Waterfront Restaurant on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key Club, UTC Mall, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

 

Teknique’s workshop has been featured in design centers and publications including Sarasota magazine, Architect Digest, and Better Homes and Gardens.
